The Leather

Joe Natural products begin with the leather. Leather and man have been around since the beginning of time. We use leather from goats that are raised on the foothills of the Los Andes, because it interacts with the skins chemistry very well and is soft to the skin, and extremely strong and durable. We go to great lengths to cut and process this leather into fine ½ -1 mm strands. In processing the leather we pay special attention to preserving and keeping leather Natural. We don't bombard our leather with a bunch of chemicals or dyes, which can severely weaken or even be toxic to the skin. There is a lot of leather out there that has been basically ruined chemicals, so what you get is more like plastic leather. This plastic leather loses the very characteristics that make leather one of the most sought after materials. We know that the best way to treat and condition leather is to let the body work it's magic, letting the body oils penetrate the leather, strengthen it protect it. Natural salts from the your skin coat the leather, leaving our wares relatively free of bacteria that otherwise cause things to smell. It almost becomes a second skin, the more you wear our products, the stronger they become. Leather is dynamic. Leather has this allure and aura …the more we wear it, use it… The more we seem to fall in love with our leather.

Weaving and Knot Tying

Weaving vines and tying sailors' knots has been around since the beginning of time. We have a variety of weaves that are strong and durable meant for the wear and tear of rough sailors and sweaty sportsman alike. We have other designs that are more decorative and stylish for those clients who want to impress. The general rule of thumb is that the tighter and the more compact the weave is the stronger and the more durable your hand woven treasure will be. We strive for a weave that is crisp and balanced. A weave that has equilibrium can stand the test of time. Remember, just like sports cars are meant for speed and power, and jeeps are for the mud, the rain, the elements. Joe Natural products are no different. Some are going to hold up longer than others. It all depends on whose wearing it…what they are doing.
